Spider Web 4

Clay slabbed, shaped, and cooked, stacked offset
Buttered with sand and limestone wet
Grained, eccentric, crags of blocks
Silent wall a border makes
Without, within, sundering line
Shield and shelter, holding in
And holding back, time its foremost foe
Solace for the grand, succor for the small
Tendrilled tacky wisps laid down
Draw the eye to the breach
Safe within the cloister there
Wriggling out and darting in
My hidden heart struggles to be free.

About suzanawylie

Suzana Wylie is the not-very-pseudo pseudonym of Susan Wylie Wilson, because let's face it, there are lots of Susan Wilsons around, and as an author, I want readers to find ME and not the bazillions of others. I've been writing all my life - since I learned to hold a pencil anyway - and can't NOT write. Other people have to breathe to live; I have to write.
